A Clear Statement of Faith
This statement reflects the core biblical convictions that shape Christianity Now. It is our commitment to historic Christian orthodoxy, the authority of Scripture, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the mission of the Church in the world today.
God
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of all things.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Scripture
We believe the Holy Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, were originally given by God, divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and are the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 119:105
Jesus Christ
We believe in the full deity and true humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ: God manifest in the flesh. We affirm His virgin birth, sinless life, divine miracles, substitutionary and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, His ongoing mediatorial work, and His personal return in power and glory.
John 1:1, 14; Luke 1:34–35; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ, apart from works. All who repent and believe are justified by His shed blood, forgiven of their sins, and born again by the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 5:1; Acts 3:19; Titus 3:4–7
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who indwells every believer. By His indwelling power, the believer is enabled to live a holy life, bear spiritual fruit, and witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ, empowered and equipped with spiritual gifts for service.
John 14:16–17; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22–23; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11
The Church
We believe in one universal Church, the Body of Christ, composed of all true believers and united by the Spirit. The Church is called to worship God, proclaim the gospel, make disciples, serve the poor, and pursue justice and reconciliation in the world.
Ephesians 4:4–6; Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 2:42–47; James 1:27
The Resurrection and Eternity
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved unto the resurrection of life and eternal life with God, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of judgment and eternal separation from Him.
John 5:28–29; 1 Corinthians 15:20–23; Revelation 20:11–15
The Great Commission
We believe Jesus Christ has commissioned His Church to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that Christ has commanded.
Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14–15
