“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” — Revelation 3:16
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humility, reverence, and repentance. You are holy, righteous, merciful, and true. You see beyond appearances, beyond religious language, beyond routines, beyond everything we use to hide what is really happening in our hearts. Nothing is hidden from You.
Lord, we pray for lukewarm Christians to return to You.
Wake up every heart that has grown cold. Stir every soul that has drifted into spiritual compromise. Call back those who still carry the name of Christ but no longer burn with love for Him. Rescue those who have become comfortable with casual faith, half-hearted obedience, and a form of godliness without the power of true surrender. Shake Your people from spiritual sleep.
Father, forgive us for the ways we have settled into lukewarmness. Forgive us for knowing truth but not treasuring it, for hearing Your Word without obeying it, for singing about You without seeking You, and for speaking of faith while secretly loving the world. Forgive us for becoming distracted, dull, familiar, and unmoved by the things that once brought conviction, worship, and holy fear.
Lord, bring us to repentance.
Strip away every false comfort. Expose every hidden idol. Tear down whatever has taken Your place in our hearts—whether it be pride, pleasure, money, ambition, relationships, politics, entertainment, approval, or the love of this world. Do not allow us to remain at ease while our souls drift from You. Let conviction come where compromise has settled in. Let sorrow over sin lead to true repentance. Let there be no rest in anything that keeps us from wholehearted devotion to Christ.
Father, call back the ones who have lost their first love. Remind them what it was like when they loved Your presence, when Your Word was precious to them, when prayer was alive, when worship was real, and when obedience mattered more than convenience. Rekindle what has faded. Revive what has grown cold. Restore holy desire where spiritual numbness has taken root.
We pray for those who still attend church but are far from You in heart. For those who know the language of Christianity but are no longer walking closely with Christ. For those who have grown comfortable living with secret sin, spiritual apathy, unforgiveness, pride, or worldly compromise. Have mercy on them, Lord. Do not let them continue in deception. Break through every layer of denial and awaken them to their need for You.
Lord, protect Your people from the lie that lukewarmness is safe. Your Word warns us plainly. You do not call us to a halfway faith or a divided heart. You are worthy of all our love, all our obedience, all our worship, and all our surrender. Teach us again that a life close to You is better than anything this world can offer. Let Your people see that compromise always costs more than it promises.
Father, create in us a holy hunger. Give us a renewed thirst for righteousness. Draw us back to prayer. Draw us back to Scripture. Draw us back to holiness. Draw us back to reverence, humility, and dependence on You. Let there be a fresh longing for the presence of God, a fresh hatred for sin, and a fresh passion to live in a way that honors Jesus Christ.
We ask You to restore tenderness to hardened hearts. Let tears return where there has only been indifference. Let conviction return where there has only been excuse-making. Let joy return where there has only been dead routine. Let truth break through every deception, and let Your Spirit breathe life into dry and weary places.
Lord, help lukewarm believers remember that Your mercy is still extended. You do not warn us because You hate us, but because You love us. You discipline those You love. You call us back because Your desire is restoration, not destruction. Thank You that no one is too far gone to return if they will humble themselves and turn back to You. Thank You that Your grace is still calling, Your mercy is still reaching, and Your arms are still open.
And Father, let this prayer begin with us. Search our own hearts. Reveal any lukewarmness in us. Show us where we have compromised, where we have grown careless, where we have lost zeal, where we have made peace with things that grieve Your Spirit. Do not let us pray for others while refusing Your correction in our own lives. Purify us. Revive us. Draw us near again.
Let the Church not be content with shallow faith. Let believers not remain satisfied with religious appearances and empty routine. Bring Your people back to wholehearted love, real obedience, deep repentance, and living fellowship with Jesus Christ.
Set our hearts on fire again for You.
We ask this in the name of Jesus,
Amen.
